Recommended and Smart Modifiers

A thorough break down of what these features are and how they can improve your customers experience with me&u

Smart Sorting

Smart sorting of modifiers in a modifier list increases customer average transaction values whilst also reducing the amount of time venues need to worry about creating the right list order.

Smart sorting dynamically updates the order which modifiers are displayed in a modifier list each day based on the sales data with that product. This means that a modifier that is more likely to be purchased by the customer will automatically be displayed higher in the list, increasing the likelihood that a customer will see it and add it to the product. By showing modifiers that customers are interested in at the top there is an increased chance they will add it and therefore increase their average transaction value.

Smart sorting works on a per product level. If the same modifier list is used on two different products and the modifiers that customers tend to add on each product is different then the display order on each product will be different.

For example these two burgers share the same modifier list. As Avocado is the top selling modifier on the Chicken Burger it has displayed it accordingly while on the Cheeseburger, Avocado is ordered much less so it is lower down the list.

Recommended Modifiers

Recommending a modifier variant is a great way to increase a customers average transaction value by promoting higher value items that aim to drive impulse purchasing behaviour.

When a modifier has been marked as recommended when the customer opens the product to view its details the modifier will automatically be pinned to the top of the modifier list, will display a "recommended" tag.

When a modifier list has both a recommended modifier and smart sorting enabled then the recommended modifier will be pinned to the top of the list but all other modifiers will be smart ordered.

In this example the venue has decided to mark the modifier Extra Patty as recommended so it appears pinned to the top of the list on both products. However the other items in the list are still being smart ordered which is why they are ordered differently on each product.
